Welcome to Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

Wecome back after the Christmas break, we hope you and the children have had a much-earned rest, and that the children are ready to start the new term with lots of enthusiasm. Mrs Ormerod and I are really looking forward to seeing the children, and working with them to help them grow, flourish, and reach their full potential in Christ, whilst remembering our Christian values.

Key Information

  • Swimming will replace PE on Tuesdays. Please ensure your children have the appropriate swim wear including costume/trunks, towel, hat and goggles (if required) Swimming hats can also be obtained to buy via school or at the swimming pool

  • Homework - Spellings and times tables will be the only homework sent home. Ideally these should be practised regularly, ready for their tests on Fridays.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Ormerod.

Please also be assured that as a school we continue to follow the most up-to-date guidelines, with your child’s safety being one of our highest priorities.

Kind regards,
Mrs Yates, Mrs Ormerod, Miss Jackson and Miss Milner

Curriculum Overview

Please have a look at  the 'Curriculum Overview' below to find out about all the new things we will be learning about this half term.

Reading and Spelling

When reading with your child, it is really important to discuss what they have read and ask questions, this will help with their understanding and comprehension skills. We would also ask you to encourage them to have a go at reading independently. If your child is a little more exeprienced and can read independently, we would also encourage you to ask questions to check their understanding of what they have read.

Spellings will be handed out every Friday for a spelling test the following Friday. Please encourage your child to practise their spelling at home regularly, not only will this help them achieve a good score, it will also impact massively on their self esteem.
