Welcome to Year 3

April 2025

Welcome back after the Easter Break.

Hope you had the opportunity to make the most of the warm weather and the children are ready for our next half term. As always, the team and I are looking forward to this next half term with lots of enthusiasm and looking forward to seeing the children.  😉

Little polite reminders:

PE is still on a Tuesday, the children can come in their uniform rather than change in school.

*Swimming *

This half-term we will also be swimming – how exciting! Please ensure the children have suitable swimming costume and a swimming cap, (caps can also be purchased in the school office).

Although homework is sent home, this is to reinforce the children’s learning, rather than extra work. Spellings and tables should be practised, ready for their tests on Friday.

Please do not hesitate to speak to one of the team if you have any concerns.

Kind regards, Mrs Yates and the teaching team.

Please be assured that as a school we are following the most up to date guidelines with your child's safety being one of our highest priorities.

Curriculum Overview

Please have a look at  the 'Curriculum Overview' below to find out about all the new things we will be learning about this half term.

Homework Grid

Please have a look at the 'Homework Grid' below.  We understand that family life can be busy, any activities completed will enhance your child's learning.

Reading and Spelling

Reading books – The children's library book can be taken home. Please try and read at least two timesa week with your child before changing it the following Thursday. * Please remember to send it back every Thursday. If the children haven’t finished reading it, they can always borrow the book again.

When reading with your child, discuss what they have read and ask questions, this will help with their understanding and comprehension skills. We would also ask you to encourage them to have a go at reading independently. If your child is a little more exeprienced and can read independently, we would also encourage you to ask questions to imbed their understanding and English skills further. If you require extra books, please let one of the team know.

Spellings will be handed out every Friday for a spelling test the following Friday. Please encourage your child to practise their spelling at home, not only will this help them achieve a good score, it will also impact massively on their self esteem.
