Welcome to Year 3
Welcome to Year 3!
We hope the children have had a much-earned rest and are ready to start the new school year with lots of enthusiasm. Mrs Ormerod and I are really looking forward to working with the children to help them grow, flourish, and reach their full potential.
✨ Key Information ✨
-
PE will still be on Tuesdays. Please can the children come to school in their PE uniform rather than changing at school.
-
Homework will be sent home on Thursdays to reinforce the children’s learning, rather than as extra work. Please be reassured it should not cause any distress, should anyone have any difficulties please speak to either myself or Mrs Ormerod.
-
Spellings and times tables ideally these should be practised regularly, ready for their tests on Fridays.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to myself or Mrs Ormerod.
Please also be assured that as a school we continue to follow the most up-to-date guidelines, with your child’s safety being one of our highest priorities.
Kind regards,
Mrs Yates, Mrs Ruggieri and Mrs Ormerod
Curriculum Overview
Please have a look at the 'Curriculum Overview' below to find out about all the new things we will be learning about this half term.
Homework Grid
Please have a look at the 'Homework Grid' below. We understand that family life can be busy, any activities completed will enhance your child's learning.
Reading and Spelling
When reading with your child, it is really important to discuss what they have read and ask questions, this will help with their understanding and comprehension skills. We would also ask you to encourage them to have a go at reading independently. If your child is a little more exeprienced and can read independently, we would also encourage you to ask questions to check their understanding of what they have read.
Spellings will be handed out every Friday for a spelling test the following Friday. Please encourage your child to practise their spelling at home regularly, not only will this help them achieve a good score, it will also impact massively on their self esteem.
